Man Killed After Crashing Into Construction Vehicle On I-90

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) - An Algonquin man was killed after crashing into a construction vehicle parked on the shoulder of Interstate 90 near Schaumburg Wednesday morning.

Raymond Ragaldo, 40, of Algonquin, was pronounced dead at 12:18 p.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

The crash happened about 11:35 am. on I-90 near mile marker 64, Illinois State Police Tollway District Sgt. Nizar Hasan said.

A construction vehicle was parked just outside the construction zone performing some work on the left shoulder when a black 2001 Honda CRV, driven by Ragaldo, veered onto the left shoulder, striking the unoccupied construction vehicle, Hasan said.

Ragaldo was wearing his seatbelt and the airbag was deployed. He was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with life-threatening injuries but soon died, Hasan said.

No passengers were inside his vehicle and it's unclear why he crashed into the construction vehicle.

No construction workers were hurt in the crash, he said.
