Lou Piniella will retire after Sunday's game

Lou Piniella will step down as manager of the Cubs after today's Braves game. Third base coach Mike Quade will take over the team for the remainder of the seaosn.
Earlier in the season Piniella announced that this would be his last as a MLB manager. A managerial career that lasted close to 23 years that included stops in New York, Cincinnati, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Chicago. In 1990 he led the Cincinnati to a world series title.
Quade is a Chicago area native who has been coaching in the Cubs organization for eight years. He will take over the reigns of the Cubs until a new manager is named in the off-season. Names such as Ryne Sandberg, Joe Torre and Joe Girardi have linked to the position.
