Is Epstein The Guy To End 100 Years of Futility?
(WSCR) Theo Epstein took the Red Sox where they hadn't been in almost a century. Could he take the Cubs where they haven't been in over a century?
After reports surfaced that the Cubs asked for permission from the Red Sox to speak to Epstein about their open general manager position, Epstein may now be the guy to deliver the Cubs franchise.
"If they do get him, I think it would be the best acquisition the Cubs have had in a long, long time," Cubs TV play-by-play man Len Kasper told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "It would change the paradigm completely here. I'm sure he'd bring a lot of his lieutenants, maybe some of his players at some point."

Kasper also said if Epstein can win with the Cubs, his career will be altered forever.
"You can't argue with the Red Sox's success," Kasper said. "Theo Epstein has become maybe the premier general manager in all of baseball. If he were to come to Chicago and win a World Series with the Cubs, put him in the Hall of Fame."
Dan Roche of WBZ-TV in Boston also joined The McNeil and Spiegel Show to discuss the possibility of Epstein to the Cubs.
"He's done everything (he set out) to accomplish," Roche said. "I think the opportunity to take that Cubs franchise and do the same thing, I think it would put his mark on the game of baseball as far as history is concerned."
