Girls Volleyball Coach Charged With Sexually Assaulting Player

(STMW) -- Prosecutors claim a volleyball coach at Kennedy High School sexually assaulted a 14-year-old student and sent her explicit messages on Snapchat, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.

Tomas Angeles, 27, would offer rides home after practices and games to girls who played on his USA Volleyball Club, Assistant State's Attorney Kim Przekota said in court.

After dropping off the other students, Angeles performed sex acts on the victim and had her perform them on him in his van, Przekota said.

The three incidents took place between April 1 and May 11 in the 6200 block of 55th Street, Przekota said.

Angeles, of Cicero, let the girls on the volleyball team use his cell phone so another student saw the explicit messages on his Snapchat account, Przekota.

The principal at the school at 6325 W. 65th was informed after the girl told another student about the alleged attacks.

Angeles has been coaching volleyball for eight years, his attorney said. He works as a service engineer working on copy machines.

Angeles was ordered held on a $300,000 bond Friday after being charged with criminal sexual assault.
