From A Win To A Dis-heartening Loss

So much for momentum. The Cubs had a chance to stretch their mini winning streak to three but in the end they were saddled with a terrible loss. Leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th Lou Piniella brought on Carlos Marmol for the hopeful save. This was the same Marmol who struck out the side the day before. But on this day Marmol's control was like Mr. Magoo as he walked 5 and uncorked a wild pitch.
Still the Cubs could have and should have won the game but on a throw to the plate Geovany Soto couldn't handle it and backup catcher Brian Schneider scored the tieing run before the roof then caved in. Afterwards Soto nd Marmol took turns for being the goat. Soto simply said he should have held on to the ball and he is correct and Marmol said he didn't have his good control....also correct.
Obviously the Cubs are in no position to drop games like this or any other kind. They entered the 2nd half of this season hanging by a thread and needing to put together a long winning streak. On Thursday and Friday they looked pretty good in winning the opening two games of the series but then that old bug a boo also known as a Cubbie Occurence hit them in the 9th and that trade deadline (dumping of the players) is coming up quick.
