June 4, 1993 - Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals

For the third year in a row, the Bulls and Knicks met in the NBA playoffs.

This time, however, the stakes had never been higher. The winner of this seven-game series received a ticket to the NBA Finals -- a place the Bulls knew well. After all, they were the two-time defending champions.

The year before, the Knicks had pushed the Bulls to a seven-game series, with the Bulls ultimately knocking the Knicks out in Game 7 in Chicago.

Unlike the previous season, the Knicks had earned home-court advantage as they looked to exact their revenge. New York took advantage of their hometown crowd, taking the first two games and putting the Bulls in a 0-2 hole.

But the Bulls were determined to earn their first-ever three peat, taking the next four games in a row and knocking the Knicks out of the playoffs for the third-straight year.

Chicago became the first team in NBA history to overcome a 2-0 series deficit in a best-of-7 series, and the fourth team overall.

With the exception of Game 5, which was a 97-94 thriller, the Bulls won each of the four games by at least eight points as they cruised to the NBA Finals for the third-straight year. In Game 5, the Bulls made a strong defensive stand late when Knicks forward Charles Smith was stopped four-straight times by a series of blocked shots and stripped balls in the final seconds while trying to score.
