Five Patients From NW Side Nursing Home Hospitalized

(CBS) -- A health scare on Chicago's Northwest Side sends five nursing home patients to the hospital.

We're told one patient got sick Saturday, then four others got sick soon after. All the patients live at the Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on North Western Avenue.

What ailed the 5 patients is still a mystery. We do know the patients are in their 40s and 50s. People who came to visit their relatives eere told to leave.

"I was going to come visit him just now and they said something was going on and I couldn't stay," said visitor Angie Richter.

"We certainly want to get to the root cause to what caused all of this," said spokesman Melvin Hobbs.

The city and state health departments are now investigating. The patients are in stable condition.
