Five Injured In West Garfield Park Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Alcohol may have played a role in a pin-in crash that injured five people late Thursday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
About 11 p.m., a Mercury Marquis traveling east in the 4000 block of West Lake crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a Pontiac Grand Am head-on, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.
Two women in the Pontiac were taken to Stroger Hospital with injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening, Sullivan said. A man in that car declined medical treatment.
The 28-year-old man driving the Mercury and a man in the passenger seat also were taken to Stroger with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The Mercury's driver was suspected of DUI and released from the hospital into police custody, Sullivan said. Traffic citations were pending Friday morning.
