Father Michael Pfleger reinstated at St. Sabina after being cleared of sexual abuse allegation

Father Michael Pfleger has been reinstated at St. Sabina Church more than a month after being removed for accusations of sexual abuse.

Last month, Pfleger was removed from ministry and sent to live away from the parish after he was accused of sexual abuse of a minor more than 30 years ago.

The Archdiocese of Chicago on Monday sent a letter to St. Sabina saying he's been cleared of the allegation by the review board.

Pfleger said the latest allegation was an attack by those attempting to get money from the Archdiocese and to silence him. 

Pfleger has been accused of sexual abuse in the past, which he was cleared of.

Back in October 2022, Father Pfleger fought another allegation by a man in his 40s, who then said that in the 1980s he was a member of the Soul Children of Chicago Choir, which rehearsed at St. Sabina, where he claimed the abuse started. He was cleared of that claim. 

The year before that, in January 2021, two adult brothers filed claims of more decades-old abuse. At that time, Pfleger was also asked to step aside and was away from his ministry for several months before a panel found "insufficient reason to suspect" he was guilty.
