Emanuel Unveils Comprehensive Environmental Plan

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel has unveiled a comprehensive environmental plan that he says will mean sustainability and jobs for the city for years to come.

As WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports, Mayor Emanuel says his sustainable Chicago 2015 plan will improve the city's environment across a number of measures, but he also says such environmentally-friendly projects will be fiscally beneficial.

"I do believe this is a guide for going green and growing – growing the jobs here in the city," Emanuel said. "And with every one of these investments, we will create new companies that develop expertise – whether that's in energy efficiency, whether that's in retrofit, whether that's in water conservation, whether that's in mass transit, or whether that's even in bikes and bike lanes."

Many of the projects are already underway.
