CHICAGO (CBS) -- Are surveillance drones flying over Chicago as part of the massive security operation for the NATO Summit?
A video posted on Sunday on You Tube could indicate that's the case. However, it is unclear whether the video is authentic. Military sources contacted by CBS 2 said they did not recognize the markings on the unidentified object.
The video was apparently taken in northwest suburban Elgin--about 40 miles from the summit site, McCormick Place. It shows an unusual aircraft, which looks very similar to military surveillance drones, flying over an athletic field.
"That's an odd little plane," the narrator on the video is heard saying.
Then, the video is frozen and is edited to zoom closer to the unidentified flying object. It is then juxtaposed with a still photo of a drone.
With security tight as Chicago prepares to host scores of world leaders and other dignitaries, the federal government has indicated it is using tools at its disposal to monitor Chicagoland.
The summit begins on Sunday and ends on Monday.
