Doug McDermott Calls Knee Injury 'Very Minor'

By Cody Westerlund-

(CBS) Bulls rookie wing Doug McDermott will miss Tuesday night's game against the Mavericks with right knee swelling, but he called the injury "very minor" and doesn't expect to be out long.

The knee gave McDermott problems upon returning on a flight from Brooklyn on Sunday at the end of a road trip. He said it didn't occur on any one play.

"Just swelling, really," McDermott said. "I've just been keeping the ice down on it and hoping it gets better.

"I really haven't had any injury history. Very random ... I already feel better today, so that's a good sign."

McDermott plans to travel to with the Bulls to Charlotte for Wednesday night's game and said if he feels better, he'll play.

"It's really nothing serious at all," McDermott said.

McDermott is averaging 3.2 points per game in 11.6 minutes.
