DeJesus: New Cubs Want To 'Put Fear' In Opponents
(WSCR) Twenty years from now, when someone asks the trivia questions "Who was Theo Epstein's first signing for the Cubs?" the answer will be David DeJesus.
DeJesus and the new-look Cubs, led by rookie manager Dale Sveum, are looking to change the way the rest of the 29 teams look at the North Siders.
"We want to be a team that is just aggressive out there -- smart and aggressive, trying to take it to the other team," DeJesus told The Mully and Hanley Show. "It looks like (Sveum) wants to have a team that puts fear in the other teams so they know that every day they're going to have a tough game ahead of them.

Ironically, when DeJesus first heard Sveum would be the new Cubs manager, he had never heard of him. So DeJesus went to his computer and did a Wikipedia search for Sveum.
"I remember sitting on my couch and I'm like, 'Oh, let's see what his career looked like.' You just want to learn about your manager," DeJesus said. "I was impressed by his whole page. He has a lot of baseball experience and experience in the playoffs under good managers. He's been around a lot of winning baseball. Hopefully he can bring it over here to Chicago."
DeJesus may be knew to the Cubs, but Epstein knows him well. In fact, Epstein tried trading for DeJesus in Boston during the 2010 season.
"It's an honor when a guy like Theo, with the pedigree he has, says something about you," DeJesus said. "You know he means it. I'm just going to go out there and be myself. ... I want to be out there every day for the pitchers, for the team, for the organization. I want to give my best on the field and be an honorable person on and off the field."
