Death Along Blue Line Temporarily Halts Some Northwest Side Service
(CBS) -- A man plunged to his death in front of a CTA Blue Line train Thursday night.
CTA spokesman Steve Mayberry said the man plunged from the northbound Blue Line platform at the Jefferson Park station at roughly 8:18 p.m.
The operator was unable to stop the train in time.
Police and fire personnel called to the scene had to jack up the train to extricate the body.
CTA immediately instituted a bus shuttle to take passengers between the California and Harlem Blue Line stations, making all stops.
Train service was restored late Thursday.
