Cubs Sign Third Round Draft Pick DeVoss

CHICAGO (CBS) The Cubs have signed their third-round draft pick, outfielder Zeke DeVoss from the University of Miami (Fla.), the team announced Thursday.

DeVoss is the highest drafted player the Cubs have come to terms with since last month's draft. The team has signed 17 of their 50 draft picks, but have yet to sign four of their first five picks.

DeVoss is a 5-11, 175-pound outfielder who just completed his sophomore season with the Hurricanes. The switch-hitter batted .340 with 13 doubles, three triples and two home runs this season while also stealing 32-of-42 bases.

The Cubs still have to sign the ninth-overall selection, infielder Javier Baez from Arlington Country Day High School in Florida.
