Cubs Recall Tommy La Stella, Designate Joel Peralta For Assignment
(CBS) Infielder Tommy La Stella is back with the Cubs, and reliever Joel Peralta's time in Chicago has come to an abrupt end.
The Cubs made the move Wednesday to recall La Stella from his rehab assignment. In turn, they've designated Peralta for assignment just a month after he was signed.
La Stella is slated to hit fifth and play third base for the Cubs in Wednesday's series finales with the Reds. The Cubs took Game 1 of the series by a score of 10-4, then fell Tuesday, 9-5.
The 27-year-old La Stella is hitting .291 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 38 games this season. Peralta, 40, is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in four innings.
First pitch between the Cubs and Reds is slated for 1:20 CT at Wrigley Field.
