Cubs Place Zambrano On DL, Activate Wood
CHICAGO (CBS) According to The Score's Matt Abbatacola, the Chicago Cubs have placed starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano on the disabled list and moved relief pitcher Kerry Wood to the active roster.
Wood, who was placed on the DL on July 13 (retroactive to July 9) with a blister on his throwing hand, announced on Twitter on Thursday that he would be returning on Friday.
