Cubs, Camp Agree On One-Year Deal

(WSCR) The Cubs and right-handed reliever Shawn Camp have agreed on a one-year deal for the 2013 season.

The Tribune reports the deal is for $1.35 million.

The 37-year-old Camp went 3-6 with a 3.59 earned-run average last year. His 80 appearances were tied for the major league lead.

Cubs GM Jed Hoyer recently told the Tribune that he felt the veteran hurler was overworked last season.

"Yeah, 80 games, 117 times up (in the bullpen)," Hoyer said. "No doubt. He's been really healthy throughout his career. You never want to see a pitcher throw 80 games. We were put in a hard spot with a lot of young guys in the rotation. But I don't think we ever want to see guys throwing 80 games."
