Could Cubs Pursue Cliff Lee, Adam Dunn?

(WSCR) - The Cubs are long overdue for a championship and they're trying to put the pieces together to change that. The New York Post reported that the Cubs could be looking to add Cliff Lee to their line-up. Though it isn't for certain yet, Lee's success for the Phillies last year and getting the Rangers to thrive into the playoffs this year could draw more attention to him during free agency. Joel Sherman of the NY Post suggested the Cubs might pursue Lee in hopes of getting closer to the post-season.

In a blog by David Kaplan on ChicagoNow.com, baseball agent Matt Sosnick stated in an interview that he believes the Cubs are the likeliest team to pick up Adam Dunn during free agency. Sosnick said "If I was going to guess, I would say [Adam Dunn] is probably going to the Cubs, and he'll probably get, you know, 3 years and 40 million bucks." Dunn has played for the Washington Nationals during the 2010 season and it is unclear if the Nationals will resign him. Dunn has a .260 batting average, 38 home runs and 103 runs batted in.
