Chicago Urges Residents To Recycle Trees
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If your Christmas tree has more pine needles on the floor than on its branches, it may be time to get rid of it.
WBBM's Nancy Harty reports the City of Chicago will recycle them.
Starting Jan. 7 and running though Jan. 20, Chicago residents can drop off their undecorated tree at one of 23 locations.
The trees will be turned into mulch, which will be made available to residents, starting on Jan. 13.
Last year, Chicago recycled 15,000 trees.

When asked if the city would ever do curb-side pickup of trees, Streets and Sanitation Supt. Tom Bryne said people bring them home so they should just as easily be able to take them to the parks.
