Chicago Area Snowfall Predictions For March 1, 2016

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The second winter storm in a week is bearing down on the Chicago area, and, just like last time, the amount of anticipated snowfall varies widely, depending on where you live.

According to Megan Glaros, the snow will start to fall late tonight and end by mid-afternoon on Wednesday

Here are the latest predictions:

LAKE, McHENRY COUNTIES

There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect, with four to six inches likely.  Towns right along the Wisconsin border may get up to eight inches.

CHICAGO, NORTHERN COOK COUNTY

The snow barely fell downtown during last week's storm. By Wednesday afternoon, the near north and northwest suburbs, along with the North Side of Chicago, can expect 3-4 inches.

THE LOOP, WEST SUBURBS

Moving a bit farther south, the Loop and West Side may get 2 to 3 inches of snow.  The same is true for the western suburbs in Cook and DuPage.

SOUTH SIDE, SOUTH SUBURBS, NW INDIANA

This area endured the brunt of last week's snowstorm, with totals ranging from 6 inches to more than a foot.

This time, the area will be spared, with only 1 or 2 inches expected.

Those totals may be even less in some areas, depending on when the precipitation turns from a wintry mix to snow.
