Boy, 4, Falls From 2nd Floor Window
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 4-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after he fell from a second-floor window on the South Side.
The boy fell out of a window at 729 E. 38th St. around 2:45 p.m. Police said it appeared he pushed out a screen, then fell to the ground.
Witnesses down the street, near 38th and Cottage Grove Av., saw the boy fall and rushed over to help.
"We heard screaming, we didn't know what it was, then we looked over and we saw a body tip over," witness Tachee Bennett said.
Bennett said a woman who lives in her grandmother's building brought the boy over to her home, and witnesses called for an ambulance and police.
Witnesses said the boy appeared to be alert when he was put into an ambulance and taken to Lurie Children's Hospital.
