Bombs Away
Another combination of the Hindenburg and the Titanic at Wrigley Field last night. In other words the Cubs were a disaster as they got embarrassed 18-1 by the Brewers. Milwaukee didn't score until the middle innings but once they did they seemingly never stopped. They batted around twice and came up with a total of 26 hits. The 26 tied a Cubs dubious record of most allowed in a single game.
As a team the Cubs managed 4 hits on the night and Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder each surpassed that by themselves with 5. Cory Hart tied the Northsiders with 4 hits of his own as Randy Wells and the bullpen took a beating.
Acting Manager Alan Trammel called it a shot to the gut as he finished his 3 game fill in stint at 0-3. Lou Piniella is scheduled back on Tuesday but after watching from a far his team get beat up the last three days, what are the chances he turns around and goes right back home.
