Bears Elevate Williams, Bellamy, Boggs From Practice Squad

(CBS) Per the NFL transactions website, the Bears have elevated wide receivers Josh Bellamy and Chris Willams and center Taylor Boggs from the practice squad. All three players were among the final cuts this past August. In 2013, Boggs was active for all 16 games.

With wide receivers Brandon Marshall (right ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (right hamstring) questionable to play and Josh Morgan (groin) doubtful, Santonio Holmes was the only healthy wide receiver remaining on the active roster.

Holmes, who was signed on Aug. 19, is still learning the playbook but also serves as the team's primary punt returner. If Williams is active, he may play a role in the return game.

Center Roberto Garza (right ankle) and left guard Matt Slauson (left ankle) are out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, leaving the Bears with limited options on the interior of the offensive line.

Decisions on Marshall and Jeffery can be made up until 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday, and coach Marc Trestman intends on taking every available minute to make a final determination.

"We've got up to 90 minutes before the game to make those kind of decisions," Trestman said. "So, we're going to use every minute of it to make sure we're going to make the right decision in the best interest of the team and certainly the player."
