Baker Helps Northern Illinois Beat Miami (Ohio)

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Travon Baker scored 16, including the game-winning layup with three seconds left, to lead Northern Illinois past Miami (Ohio) 69-67 on Wednesday night.

Eric Washington hit a 3 with 2:03 left to give Miami (8-14, 3-6 Mid-American) a 67-61 lead, but Baker answered with a 3-pointer of his own and, after an turnover by the Redhawks, Aaron Armstead hit a 3 to tie it with 54 seconds remaining.

Geovonie McKnight missed a jumper on the other end, setting up Baker's game-winner.

The game featured 21 lead changes and 12 ties.

Aaric Armstead and Anthony Johnson scored 12 points apiece for Northern Illinois (9-11, 3-6), which shot 52 percent from the field and made as many free throws (16) as Miami attempted.

McKnight led Miami with 18 points and Willie Moore added 10.
