Back From The Brink….Again
The Blackhawks are turning into the cardiac kids. Just like in the previous series against Nashville the Hawks seemingly willed themselves to victory and, once again, did it in dramatic fashion as
they rallied for a 4-2 win over Vancouver.
The game started much like the voyages of the Titanic and Hindenberg ended. In other words it was an early disaster as the Canucks raced out to 2-0 lead just five minutes into the opening period. To say the building was shocked would be an understatement. You can bet many in the capacity crowd were seeing the season pass in front of their eyes. But Brent Seabrook stemmed the tide with a goal on the rebound and the Hawks trailed only 2-1 after 1.
The Hawks outplayed Vancouver over the second 20 minutes but it was still 2-1 going into the third and that's when the fun began. Patrick Sharp scored a shorthander at the 6.49 mark of the final period and then Kris Versteeg scored what he called the biggest goal of his life with just 90 seconds left in regulation and the building went bananas. Patrick Kane added an empty netter to make it 4-2 and abra cadabra this series is tied at 1.
The Hawks are building an identity of never saying Uncle and it goes all the way back to early in the season when they rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Calgary. This team just wont quit so it's on to Vancouver for no doubt....more heart stopping games.
