Alex Brown: Returning To Bears 'Would Be Awesome'

(CBS) When defensive end Alex Brown was released by the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, the natural speculation was that he could end up back with the Bears.

Reports have since indicated that the Bears aren't showing rampant interest, but Brown said Thursday on The Mully and Hanley Show that there is at least a small chance that could happen.

"I guess there's a possibility but I'm not sure if it's going to happen," Brown said on 670 The Score. "I know the defense. I know everyone there so it is a possibility as far as I know."

The defensive end said that three teams, including the Carolina Panthers, have contacted his agent and he thinks he can still be productive for three or four more years in a 4-3 scheme. The possibility of him being productive for the Bears excites him.

"I guess it's come around where I could possibly have an opportunity go back and that would be awesome if that were to happen," Brown said. "To play at Soldier Field again would be great."

Brown was suddenly released by the Bears before the 2010 season started and while he wasn't happy about it, he carried himself with class and never publicly complained about the move. He maintained that stance Thursday.

"It probably didn't work out the way I wanted to do, but when do things work out the way they want them to in the NFL? I mean, not many people get to spend their entire career in one place," Brown said.
