About Time

This morning the Bulls will finally have the press conference they should have had in December.  John Paxson knows that this process could have been accelerated -- he said as much to Vinny Del Negro during their altercation last month -- and he now faces a fanbase (if not bosses) skeptical of his own stewardship.

Gar Forman will speak today, too, but he still exists as a cipher, seemingly involved in everything yet ultimately responsible for nothing.

And pipe down, you shallow, stupid Del Negro apologists.  Stop talking about playoff appearances that are unrelated to title trajectory and the "growth" of Rose and Noah.  Think how much better those two could be had they spent the last two years with a smarter, better, more experienced leader.

Good to see the Hawks steady themselves after the early wobble.  Their tendency to lapse remains troubling, but the series is still theirs to win.

Jake Peavy pitched as if he heard the show yesterday.  That is what a star pitcher is supposed to look like against the Royals' lineup, and the quaility of his stuff was independent of opponent.  Everything was better about every pitch in his arsenal -- location, velocity and late movement.  More of that, now, please.

And Scott Linebrink is being scheduled for a visit from the Score lizard.

Cubs embarking on a trip to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati that should allow them to shoulder ahead in the early race for the NL wild card, if not their division.  Funny though, how the predictable, boilerplate blather about Rudy Jaramillo makes no mention of Aramis Ramirez or Derrek Lee underperforming.

Second Half at 3:30 today.  Terry's Roar of the Day at 5:30.
