3-Year-Old Fatally Hit By Vehicle
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 3-year-old girl was fatally hit Saturday by a vehicle, when she went into traffic chasing a family member who had crossed the street in the Brighton Park neighborhood.
The girl was in the 2700 block of West 45th Street around 10:50 a.m. when she ran after her father, who had crossed the street, according to Chicago police.
The girl was hit by a vehicle and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead. Chicago Police told WBBM's Mike Krauser that she died.
The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene following the accident. No citations have been issued.
