3 teens accused of damaging cars and trying to steal one in Chicago's north suburbs
Police in north suburban Morton Grove, Illinois arrested three teens Sunday who are now accused of damaging multiple cars and trying to steal one.
Officers were called at 7:05 a.m. Sunday to the 8900 block of Harms Road, and determined the three teens were involved in the vandalism and attempted theft, police said.
The teens ran off, police said. Morton Grove officers, along with Skokie and Lincolnwood police, set up a perimeter and apprehended three out of four suspects, police said.
One teen, Jaylen Blakely, 18, of Round Lake Beach, was charged with criminal damage to property and mob action. He was turned over to Lake County, Illinois on a failure to appear warrant.
A 17-year-old boy from Lincolnshire and a 15-year-old boy from Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood were hit with the same charges, and burglary in addition.
Despite using drone flyovers and a coordinated effort, the fourth suspect escaped, police said.
