2 Shootings Within 2 Miles

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two men were both shot in the leg in separate shootings about two miles apart on the South Side on Thursday.

The first shooting happened at 1:40 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Paulina Street, police said. A 23-year-old man was in a vehicle when someone approached him, took out a gun and fired at him, striking him in the thigh.

He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in good condition.

At 7:19 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the 6500 block of South Claremont Avenue, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at Holy Cross Condition where he was listed in good condition.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating both shootings but no one was in custody Thursday night.
