1 Dead, 6 Wounded In Weekend Violence

CHICAGO (STMW) -- One man is dead and at least six other people were wounded in weekend gun violence in Chicago.

Raymond Tucker, 24, was walking in the 1900 block of East 79th Street about 3:45 p.m. Friday when two men got out of a vehicle and one man shot him in the head before fleeing, authorities said.

Tucker, of the 7900 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:34 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The most recent shooting occurred about 4:17 a.m. in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

A 23-year-old male was shot in the arm while driving in the 7600 block of North Marshfield Avenue. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in fair condition, said News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

About 3 a.m. a female said she was shot in the 5100 block of South Union Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

She took herself to University of Chicago Hospitals and is in "stable" condition, Gaines said.

Her age was not immediately available.

A male was shot several time about 12:20 a.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

He was sitting in a vehicle in the 3200 block of West Walnut Street, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said, though his age and condition were not immediately available, police said.

About 10 p.m. Saturday a male was shot several times in the torso in the 4500 block of South Kedvale Avenue.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Alfaro said. He was in good condition, according to dispatch reports. His age was not immediately known.

About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was driving in the 2400 block of South Rockwell Street when he heard shots and felt pain in his lower back, police said.

He drove himself to nearby St. Anthony Hospital where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound to the lower left back, police said.

About 10:55 p.m. Friday, a 37-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 6800 block of South Wood Street, when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking the man in the right leg before fleeing, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in "stable" condition, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of the shootings as detectives continue to investigate.
