Drenching Rains
There are no changes to the scenario presented yesterday. All systems are behaving as expected so far and there shouldn't be any surprises as the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea drench the region later this afternoon and tonight. A Flood Watch is issued for noon today into tomorrow morning for the potential of some street and urban flooding in areas of poor drainage. Coastal flooding and river flooding are unlikely but some small streams may be vulnerable. Wet weather in the form of sprinkles to a few brief heavier showers will occur through the morning then blossom into a widespread shield of heavier rain and tropical downpours later this afternoon into the predawn hours of tomorrow.

Copious amounts of 2-3" are guaranteed for much of the area with pockets of 4" or so probable. There will be less rain in the range of 1-2" over much of Cape Cod and a few other areas on the South Coast. In that region, a warm frontal boundary will arrive and become stationary providing the track for Andrea. That means very humid air with temperatures rising into the 60s along with a strong, gusty southerly wind will surge into that area for a few to several hours tonight. After the passage of Andrea, the wind will shift to brisk westerly and the muggy air will exit tomorrow morning. The rain will shut down by 7-8 am as the storm exits and some drier air results in some breaking clouds later tomorrow morning and afternoon. Temperatures will respond and rise into the middle 70s. Another weak short wave could trigger a few spotty showers and boomers late tomorrow afternoon or evening.
Looking ahead, Sunday will turn out sunnier with patches of clouds with highs around 80 degrees. There will be a high tide just before 1pm. The risk of showers and a few boomers should be confined to the northern mountains as far south as perhaps the NH Lakes Region as an impulse travels across southern Canada and far northern New England. This feature will exit and weak high pressure will build in to supply a partly sunny Monday with light wind yielding a sea breeze for the coast. Highs will reach 80 inland and lower 70s at the beaches. The next weather maker shows up Tuesday and cranks out showers and boomers as a trough of low pressure heads eastbound into the Northeast. There will be some muggy air involved and there might be a few peaks of sunshine. There are indications that drier air will return Wednesday with just a slight risk of a shower as a weather boundary passes through. Beyond that, high pressure is slated to take control and create sunnier weather the end of next week with a warmup into the lower to middle 80s possible by Father's Day.
