Daily Talker: New Baseball Rules
In the midst of all this snow and cold, what better time to talk about baseball on this day before the official start of Red Sox spring training in Fort Myers, Florida.
But there are reportedly some big changes coming to baseball this season.
FOX Sports is reporting that there will be three new rules.
Managers will be required to stay in the dugout during replay challenges. There must also be prompt return to play after TV commercial breaks.
But the biggest may be a rule that could impact Red Sox stars like David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia.
Hitters must keep at least one foot in the batter's box during at-bats. That may be difficult for Ortiz and Pedroia who often wander away from the batter's box after each pitch. There are exceptions such as foul balls, wild pitches, or time granted by the umpire.
A violation could be met with a warning or a called strike.
What do you think of the new rule requiring hitters to keep one foot in the batter's box?
