Child Impaled By Tree Branch In Saugus

SAUGUS (CBS) – A child riding a bicycle was impaled by a tree branch at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus Thursday afternoon.

State Police say the 11-year-old boy lost control, rode off the side of the paved path and struck a tree. When the child struck the tree, a branch punctured the child's chest.

The boy was conscious and alert when he was rushed to Mass General Hospital.

The Essex County District Attorney's office says the boy's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
