Bledsoe: Andrew Luck Does Everything Well, Except The Neckbeard

BOSTON (CBS) - Patriots Hall of Famer Drew Bledsoe joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak program Wednesday afternoon for a discussion of all things NFL.

On Seattle:

"We went up there to watch practice about a year ago, and what they've done there is they've created -- and you guys have seen this because the Patriots have been this way for a long time -- they've created a culture in their locker room. They've created a culture of excellence on the field where they compete really hard against each other, and Russell [Wilson] has kind of been the linchpin for that thing.

Those guys, the reason I think they've been able to survive some of the adversity, is because of that. When they go to practice everyday they're like the Patriots in that everyday is business, and they compete really hard in practice so that when they get to the games they're ready to rock. Another thing that gets overlooked is they got healthy. They had to overcome some significant injuries."

On Pete Carroll:

"I think Pete would tell you that he's grown and learned over time. I think the biggest thing that's changed, and I said this when he got hired there, is that he put himself in a position where he had control of the roster. Because of that, you watch what happened, in his first few years in Seattle they had the most turnover of anybody in the league. He created an environment where they treat you very well, but there's also somebody coming in on Tuesday to work out for the team that's trying to take your job. Guys are happy to be there, proud to be on the team, but they also know if they don't compete their ass off everyday then there's somebody coming to take your spot."

On Aaron Rodgers:

"I love Aaron Rodgers. I think he's probably playing the game as well as anybody has ever played it, but the fact that he can't move around (calf) is going to be make it really tough for the Packers to try and go in there and win."

On Peyton Manning:

"I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan. He has to be in anybody's conversation for the best guy to ever strap it up and play the quarterback. I don't care if you dislike him because he beats your team, but the guy has to be in the conversation as one of the all time greats. In that particular game [last week against Indianapolis] there just didn't seem to be enough on the ball to fit it in the tight spots. Whether that's something that had to do with health, or something that can come back over the course of the offseason, I don't know. But yeah, it just seemed like the zip wasn't there on the ball. That makes it really, really difficult."

On Andrew Luck:

"He does everything so well. He really does. He's a great pocket passer; anticipation, velocity and all of those things that you want. And every once in awhile when he has to, he'll pull that ball down and flat run. He does everything really, really well for their team. I think the only criticism I have of Andrew Luck is he's got to shave the neckbeard. It's just a bad look. It's not a good look. When you're a quarterback there's a certain vanity you've got to have. You kind of got to look the part a little bit. So I'm going to talk to him this offseason about the neckbeard -- it's got to go."

Bledsoe's Doubleback Wine finally got a license to ship bottles and cases directly to Massachusetts. Find out more information here.
