"At the very least, installers missed something," former NTSB member John Goglia said after the door plug blowout on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 jet. "It calls into question the process."
NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said that "we are very, very fortunate" no one happened to be seated in the two adjoining seats to the blown-out door.
The cracks were found on what is known as the "pickle fork," which helps attach the wings to the aircraft.
