Would Chase Headley Be A Good Fit in Charm City?

Sports Illustrated's Joe Lemire joined the Scott Garceau Show to preview the MLB trade deadline, which is tomorrow.

Lemire got into the future of James Shields, and if the Tampa pitcher could be wearing a different uniform once the deadline passes.

"I think the Rays, rightly, would ask for a lot in return. His options going forward are fairly affordable even by Tampa Bay's standards," he said.

Lemire also talked about the recent trade of Hanley Ramierz from the Marlins to the Dodgers.

"I was surprised to see the Marlins didn't get more in return, although they did get some salary relief and I guess at this point it could be helpful to them to explore different options," he said.

He also said Oriole fans shouldn't be surprised if the Orioles don't make any big trades before the deadline.

"I don't think Oriole fans shouldn't be upset if they do remain stagnant because they can make more moves in the off-season to improve on what should be an overall team trending in the right direction," he said.

Lemire said that even though the Orioles may want Padres 3B Chase Headley, the asking price for him might be too high.

"There are fewer good, hitting third-basemen than there used to be. There is a lot of demand for third basemen and I think Headley would be a nice piece, a nice complementary piece, for any number of teams, but the asking price is going to be very high," he said.
