Flights Destined For BWI Thurgood Marshall Grounded Due To Weather

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Federal Aviation Administration on Monday issued a ground stop for flights destined for BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

"Departures to Baltimore-Washington International are grounded due to snow or ice," the FAA said. "Probably of extension is medium (30-60%)."

Meanwhile, aircraft flying out of BWI are being sprayed with fluid to remove snow and ice before they depart.

While the airport said its crews are working to keep its runways clear, FlightAware shows dozens of delays and cancellations for flights heading in and out of BWI.

As of noon Monday, there were 85 delays for outgoing and incoming flights, while another 196 flights were canceled.
