WEATHER BLOG: Thunder Christmas?

Hi Everyone!

So I come into work, and load the "Five Day" and see the animated lightning flash on that  graphic for Thursday, Christmas Eve. I am looking at it right now just to my left. It's just flashing away..kinda like a dance club in here this morning.

Here is where I am going with this. We know it is going to be unseasonably mild, but I really can't remember when I have seen the thunderstorm symbol, or actual threat of wide spread thunderstorms, on a !2-24/12-25 outlook. A big cold front is going to slice into this warm and humid air. There is the cause of those T-Storms. Behind it temps will drop..to just 20, and then 13 degrees ABOVE normal. Pretty amazing.

Rain by the way this time of the year is a good thing. What I am referring to here is ground water. (Snow serves the same purpose.) It is very easy to have a drought in the Winter. These big dry domes of Canadian high pressure can sit on us for day's at a time. We can, also,  get into warm flows where it is cloudy but we see very little rain. You just don't think of drought without blazing sun, and hot temps, but indeed it can be a problem in any season. So we get a little ground water right now and we will be good to go should that happen!

Yeah I am in a good mood this day start. The glass is half full today, and why not. In my mind I can see an encore holiday present coming my way next month because of this forecast. That present is called my BG&E bill which will not look like late December either.

Happy first day of Winter. we are over the hump..Next stop Summer...LOL!!!
