WEATHER BLOG: Smell of Spring
Hi Everyone!
I find it interesting how nice the Earth smells these days. (Something about me you may not know..years ago when I stopped smoking it was the return of the sense of taste, and smell, that really kept me on track. Gave me something to look forward to. And smelling the seasons is a really cool thing. They all smell different.) After the snow cover, which killed the smell of the ground, you can really sense it now.
Before not too long it will be the return of the smell of new grass, and not too long after that the smell of a 2 stroke lawn mower-LOL! (Yeah even that smells good in a mechanical kind of way)
On the water now you can smell the brackishness of the Chesapeake. At the marina you can smell the bottom pain being applied to pleasure craft, and the wax going on those hulls. Yep besides the longer days, and the milder than Winter temps, there are all sorts of ways to get in synch with the upcoming new season.
Weather wise we are going into a "wetish" few days. We will have a couple of showers associated with a push of warm/humid air tomorrow, on Thursday some P.M. showers associated with a cold front, and then on Sat night and Sunday some rain is possible. And that doesn't stink,( unless you have plans to be outside an one of the many St. Patty's Day functions around the area Thursday.) Frankly "springish" type of light rain has its own unique smell. The smell of fresh.
Hey something just dawned on me, with clearing skies this afternoon, we might be smelling some grills firing up this evening. Especially mine!
