WEATHER BLOG: Saturday

We will finally be coming down from our unseasonable warmth today behind a weak cool front. That said, temperatures will still be mild today. Despite the comfortable temperatures though, it will not be the nicest day we could ask for. With the boundary slowly working off the coast, plenty of clouds will stick around today, with some damp conditions as well.

The best chance for rain today will be in the southern mid-Atlantic, around BWI and PHL. By the overnight hours, high pressure will push the boundary off the coast for good, and provide some clearing before the sun comes up tomorrow. That sunrise should be rather impressive tomorrow as the clouds thin, with plenty of sunshine for the second half of the weekend on Sunday. Sunday will be a few degrees cooler (right around normal for the coolest day of the week, not bad). The sunshine will make up for the cooler temps and it should be a nice end to the weekend.

High pressure will continue to bring sunshine to the region to start the work week on Monday and temperatures will already be climbing upwards again. By Tuesday, a mass of moisture moving up the coast will fight the high pressure in place an bring back some clouds and some precipitation as well, at least in the form of a shower or two. That
disturbance will be off the coast on Wednesday and high pressure will nose into the I-95 corridor again, but not for long with a new low moving through the eastern Plains up into the Great Lakes.

On Thursday strong warm air advection and moisture will work into the area and while the worst of the precipitation will stay off to the northwest, we will still be looking at a cloudy and damp day. The bright side is that warm air advection will lead to yet another warm day. On Friday the upper trough will begin moving overhead but skies will be clearer but temperatures cooler again. High pressure does appear to be moving back in for the weekend ahead, so for now we have that to look forward to. Let's see if the models keep it.
