WEATHER BLOG: Happy Leap Day
Happy Leap Day to those of you celebrating your once every four year birthday! (And Happy Monday to the rest of us!)
March begins tomorrow, and to my way of thinking a very "iffy" three weeks begins. Believe me just because it is March we are not out of the "snow woods" quite yet. And cold air will again rock our world. We have had blizzards in March, and single digit daytime highs in March too.
Conversely we have had stretches of Sun, and MILD temps in March too.
The point here is we are going to enter a very finicky month, or at least the first three weeks. Really, though, once we hit Spring life does swing quickly in our favor in the Mid Atlantic. But for the next 21 days..HOLD ON!
(One thing to point out here is that any effect of either snow, or cold ,won't be around too long. That is simply a matter of science. The sun is too high in the sky, now, for any snow to linger, And the longer day's mean a generally warmer month. Generally.)
Pretty calm this week but Friday could get interesting., I am sure you have heard of some possible snow early Friday. There is a HUGE disconnect between the weather models right now. One is calling for a couple of inches of snow. One model calls for snow turning to rain, another calls for, (here), basically nothing. Again, HOLD ON. It is March and just proof of all that is written above. I would suggest by Wed morning we will have a legit solution for Friday.
Happy birthday to some of you! Some of you who yearly have to explain to your friends which day, 2-28 or 3-1, the party will be. Not this year!!
