WEATHER BLOG: Sun, Clouds & Low Humidity On Sunday

The spotty showers and thundershowers that were around Saturday night have pretty much ended across the region, though a few lonely t-showers are lingering south and east of the city.

Big Picture:
A weak cold front currently draped along the Northeast Seaboard will shift slowly off the East Coast Sunday morning. As a result, lower humidity will return on winds form the west and southwest. The front will be close enough to the area that a brief shower could still pop up, mainly in the morning and to the southeast of the city, but the vast amount of the region will be dry Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds and lower humidity.

Dry weather with partly to mostly clear conditions will prevail Sunday night, Monday and Monday night as high pressure moves east across the Middle Atlantic States. Humidity will be low for the season. Away from the lights of the city, Sunday will be a great night for viewing the Perseid meteor shower. As the high shifts off the coast, winds from the south will deliver more humid air in advance of a jet stream disturbance and associated cold front. After a dry start on Tuesday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will arrive perhaps as early as midday and continue into the evening. Thundershowers may linger into the first half of Wednesday before drier, less humid air returns later in the day and at night.
