Traffic Stop Yields Over 900 Baggies Of Heroin

CECIL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A traffic stop in Cecil County led to an arrest for more than 900 baggies of heroin.

Officials say deputies were on patrol in Cecil County when they stopped a Chevrolet S-10 pickup for a registration violation. When they were speaking with the driver, Deputy Mason Adam smelled marijuana.

The driver, Tyron Robert Walters, told police that he had just smoked marijuana inside the truck and handed them a bag of marijuana. He told them he was borrowing the truck and didn't have registration or a license.

The officers told Walters to get out of the truck; he did but then tried to flee. Walters tripped and fell in the snow and Deputy Adam was able to catch and handcuff him.

According to officials, there were 951 baggies of heroin and a small amount of marijuana.

Walters was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute. He's being held at the Cecil County Correctional Facility on $200,000 bond.
