BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County police are investigating a police-involved shooting on Grovethorn Road Saturday evening.

It's still a very active scene. Investigators have been here since the officer shot the suspect.
It all started around 7 p.m. Saturday. Cops were initially called to Wampler Road for an assault. Police say the suspect made his way to Grovethorn Road. Officers tracked him there. He was armed with a knife and had what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds. During an exchange with police, one officer opened fire.
"The suspect in that case beat two people so severely that they had to be hospitalized. We were able to track that suspect here," said Cpl. John Wachter. "While the suspect was in the basement, he got into an interaction with the officer. During that interaction, the officer shot the suspect once."
The suspect was taken to Shock Trauma and the two assault victims are being treated at area hospitals but will survive.
The officer will be on administrative leave while this incident is investigated. That officer was not hurt in the incident.
