Storm Causes Power Outages In Washington Area
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Severe thunderstorms in the Washington area caused trees and power lines to fall, leaving many residents in the dark.
The storms Wednesday evening initially left more than 15,000 customers without power, but by 11 p.m. power had been returned to all but about 2,500 customers.
As of 5:45 a.m. Thursday, Pepco was reporting about 965 outages in the District of Columbia and Montgomery and Prince George's counties. Baltimore Gas and Electric said on its website that restoration efforts resulting from the storms had been completed.
Major storms on June 29 left hundreds of thousands of people in the Washington area without electricity, many for several consecutive days.
