State Police Investigate Fatal Crash On Route 24 Near Pulaski Highway

EDGEWOOD, Md. (WJZ) -- Route 24 remains closed on the southbound side at Route 755 after a fatal crash near Pulaski Highway.

The single-vehicle crash occurred near Emmorton and Edgewood roads in Edgewood around 11:50 a.m.

One person, the driver, was pronounced dead on the scene.

A preliminary investigation shows the driver was traveling on the southbound side of Route 24 when the car left the roadway and overturned. Two people inside the car were ejected and the car caught on fire.

The female passenger was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview. There is no information on her condition at this time.

Police continue to investigate the crash. Route 24 was closed in both directions for a period of time Thursday afternoon. The northbound side reopened before the afternoon rush hour.

Harford County Public Schools said some bus routes will be diverted due to the crash.

Police have not released the identity of the driver pending next of kin notification.
