Staffer Held In Fire At Md. Marine Recruiting Site
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say Frederick County sheriff's deputies detained a staff member at a Marine Corps recruiting station in Frederick after a vehicle fire outside the building.
Sheriff's Cpl. Mike Easterday says deputies and fire-and-rescue workers responded to the rear of the office on Pegasus Court about 9 a.m. Thursday for a report of a vehicle fire.
He says the fire, in a black Ford Explorer with a Marine Corps license-plate bracket, was out by the time they arrived.
Easterday says deputies detained a man who was reportedly seen near the vehicle just before the fire started.
Marine Corps spokesman Lt. Alfred Reynolds says the man worked at the recruiting office.
