Services Set To Begin For Slain Harford Co. Deputies
ABINGDON, Md. (WJZ)—A community continues to mourn two fallen heroes who were gunned down earlier this week in Harford County.
Services are set to begin next week at the Mountain Christian Church for slain deputies Patrick Dailey and Mark Logsdon.
Ahead of the services, the church is offering a place for the community to come together to find strength and to remember these great men.
Ben Cachiaras, lead pastor at the Mountain Christian Church spoke to thousands on Sunday to remember the deputies killed in the line of duty.
Both were gunned down Wednesday in Abingdon by 68-year-old David Evans.
"It makes Harford feel like a small town and we need the places to come together and find strength support and hold each other," said Cachiaras.
Flowers mark the memorial outside the Panera Bread for two fallen deputies. The memorial continues to grow since Wednesday.
Many of the mourners say they didn't even know the men, but they wanted to come out and pay their respects.
Debbie Callis, whose dad was an officer for more than 25 years, says she felt the need to come out and show her support.
"I do have friends, neighbors, family that are cops, who I care about and would be worried about if they're in the situation abd who also know these 2 deputies," said Taylor Festerman. "It all really hit home."
People from across Maryland have been pouring in all week trying to comfort each other and process this tragedy.
The killings are still difficult for many to grasp, bringing this close knit community even closer.
Cachiaras says,"Is there someway that this brokenness can find beauty now, and ultimately is it going to be put back together again?"
Both services will be held at the Mountain Christian Church located in the 1800 block of Mountain Road in Joppa.
